Friday June 13th
Larry Don and I picked up our Mustang Friday the 13th. What a great day for a wild mustang ride. We named him
"OH-BAY-BEE"
Saturday June 14th
We arrived home at 8am, and got OH-BAY-BEE settled in. I started working him the next day.
Sunday June 15th
After spending about an hour with him
I knew I had a great horse!!
He let me halter and lead him after one hour.
Monday June 16th
The next day I continued working with him
and was able to bridle him.
We worked on giving to the bit.

Tuesday June 17th
first session

The first session today with OH-BAY-BEE, I combed out his mane, cut a bridle path, groomed him all over and handled his front feet.  I ran my hands down his back legs.  He did great.  We worked on backing up and side passing with the bridle ... not great but progress was made.
Tuesday June 17th
second session
Second session of day I went ahead and sacked him out with saddle pad, then put the saddle on and off a few times. We videoed his first steps with saddle cinched "wow" a lot of air time and dust. Oh-Bay-Bee settled down after a while,
hope tomorrow more progress is made.
Wednesday
June 18th

Saddled OH-BAY-BEE again today and he didn't back track at all, he came right up to me and let me saddle him.  I let him walk around a bit then sacked him out with ropes.  It went quite well.  I then worked on mounting him from both sides. He is now side passing very nicely.   I am going to repeat this tonight before his dinner.

Thursday
June 19th

Today I saddled and ground drove Oh-Bay-Bee.  He did so well we moved out of the round pen and into the arena. He's walking over the bridge and rails.   We started working on backing around the corners.  He is now side passing very well.

Thursday
June 24th
I have been working on sacking out with my lariat for a few days.
Friday
June 25th

Driving has become a "Piece of Cake".(Josh Lyons favorite saying.) going over bridges thought he logs and more.

Thursday June 26 I had to teach Oh-BAY-Bee how to load in a trailer before this weekend. So we could haul to the Mustang Adoption sale. It was a success.
Fri-Sat
27 & 28
This weekend I took Oh-BAY-Bee to the fair grounds to the mustang adoption in Kalispell.  This was his first trip to another arena.  He did great.  I am sorry I forgot my camera.
July 3 Riding is coming right along.  We are walking off nicely and ready to work on trot.  We are maneuvering the obstacles after our second ride.
from
June 23rd July 6th
I have been working and reviewing all of the above basic work.  I am planning to continue practicing the basics and pushing ahead for this week........ Hope to see you all this Saturday for our first lesson.
July 14th Dear Oh-Bay-Bee fans........we cantered for the first time this Sunday at Herron Park and had a wonderful time.  I have no photos due to all of the riders cantering at the same time.  I will be riding him out on the trails tonight also (Monday)  He is very hard to motivate in the arena!!!!!! As many young horses are. I hope he will learn to move in the arena because that is where I am required to perform.
July 18th Loading Oh-BAY-Bee took  about 20 minutes the first time.  He gave me some troubles At Herron Park.  So I had to retrain him the day I took him to the race track.  He is much better now. We will see how much he is willing to work with me again.
